How to Get Stuff Done When You’re Just Not Motivated

How to Get Sh*t Done

(PowerInEmail) – There’s a huge pile of work just staring back at you on your desk, and it won’t get done by itself. Because those deadlines are looming, you need to focus on tackling your workload and plowing through the day. Here are some ways to get that done and make it a productive experience.

Write It All Down!

Do you work better with digital reminders or basic pen and paper? In some cases, it helps to write everything down. This gives you a visual that can help you see what needs to be done and what general time frame it will take to complete. Try using a journal or planner to track what you do and give you reminders, so you don’t miss important deadlines.

Get in the Right Mindset

In order to get stuff done and cleared off your to-do list, you need to be in the right mindset. If you have a hundred things dragging you down, including unwanted stress, you need to find a way to turn it off for a while.

This could be by blaring your favorite 80’s rock bank to help you de-stress and stimulate your mind. If you’re more into a more quiet, mindful option, consider getting into a meditative state. Try doing some deep breathing exercises along with your morning yoga routine.

Use the Pomodoro Technique

You have your work pulled up on your desk to get done, but there are a million other distractions getting in the way. One way to hone in on what you need to get done is to set up an app or program like the Pomodoro Technique, a time management method that breaks down your work and rest periods into short intervals. This may help you stay focused, so you can plow through your workload in no time.

Block Out Distractions

Even if you have a quiet home office setup, those loud kids across the street are making it impossible for you to finish up the reports that are due in the morning. Whether it’s noisy neighbors or too much street noise, you need to block it out for a bit. Try some noise-cancelling headphones so you can gain some focus. Another option is to head to your local library or coffee shop to get away and concentrate on the task at hand.

Stop stressing out about your deadlines and focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. The bottom line is, no matter what you do, don’t give up. With the right mindset and a little organization, there’s always a solution.

And that’s how you get it done!
